Frequently Asked Questions
I configured my quote using your online quote tool and selected the procedures that I need, the required pre-op testing, post-op prescription medications, and the TransOp service package with accommodations. What extra expenses am I likely to encounter?
The biggest extra expense is usually your airline ticket to Guadalajara, Mexico (GDL). Unless specifically included in your custom package, liposuction and tummy tuck patients have to purchase post-op compression garments as prescribed by Dr. Cardenas. Regarding your post-op medications, we will fill the first prescription written for you at the time of hospital discharge. Most patients won’t need any additional medications not included in this first prescription. If, however, additional medications are needed, then you would be responsible for the cost of these additional meds. The good news is that medications are generally less expensive in Mexico.
What is your policy with regard to pricing?
We believe in providing clear, upfront pricing to our patients. In most cases, our prices are about a third to a half of what comparable surgery would cost you in the United States, Canada, or western Europe. We don’t deviate from these prices, so you can rest easy knowing that you won’t pay more for the same procedure as the person before you. The only exception to this is in the case of a change to our published price list which would be automatically shown on this website.
Do you accept patients with HIV?
In most cases, yes. Dr. Cardenas requires that the patient be undergoing treatment which includes antiretroviral therapy (ART). In addition, the patient must present a letter from her doctor which states that in his/her medical opinion, the patient is healthy enough to undergo elective surgery.
I had Forehead Contouring surgery done by another surgeon and am now interested in Type III Forehead Bone Reconstruction. Is this considered a secondary procedure?
Yes. Since you had surgery on the same area before, the second procedure would be considered secondary even though the surgical approach is different.
Where are you located?
We are located in Guadalajara, Mexico. Click here for more information.
Where can I find your Before & After Photos?
Please visit our Photos & Videos page for more information.
What does it mean when a procedure is referred to as SECONDARY?
This means that the procedure is being done to correct or improve upon a previous surgery. Because scar tissue is usually present from the previous surgery, it’s generally a more challenging surgery which takes more time to complete. As such, secondary surgeries are more costly to provide.
Can you tell me the name of the facilities where Dr. Cardenas operates?
As of April 2014, surgeries are now taking place in the new Innovãre Hospital located in the western side of metropolitan Guadalajara.
Do you offer financing?
We accept all major credit cards as well as Paypal’s Bill Me Later financing option.
Is Dr. Cardenas a board-certified plastic surgeon?
Yes, he is. He has been board-certified by the Mexican Council of Plastic, Aesthetic, and Reconstructive Surgery since 2/20/1990. His certification number is 494.
